Welcome
to
Linton Chess Club
|
|
We are a small well-established club with a friendly atmosphere,
catering for all levels of play from novice to expert. The club had its
beginnings in Sawston in 1976, originally as the South Cambridgeshire Chess
Club, attracting players from all over the county and playing in the
Cambridge City League.
In the early eighties the
club
joined the Bury Area Chess League and moved to Linton, serving
southernmost parts of Cambridgeshire, West Suffolk and North Essex.
We
are, in fact, the nearest chess club to Haverhill, Saffron Walden and
Sawston.
We
currently enter three
teams
in the Bury League, one in each of the three divisions, and participate
annually in the East Anglian Club Championship, which we won in
2008-2009 and again in 2009-2010. We enter teams in the Cambridgeshire
and Bury rapidplay
competitions, as well as holding our own club championship competition
each year.
We meet at 7.30pm each Tuesday throughout the year from September to
May. Our venue is exceedingly comfortable, with excellent playing area
and adjoining coffee and analysis room.
